Horary Column: “Where is my social security card?”
** Please keep in mind, this is not traditionally exactly how a horary service would work. Instead, I am hoping y’all can learn a little bit about astrology through these posts AND have access to a free service :)**
I love receiving the questions y’all are sending in. Feel free to send one each month for consideration. Click through to the contact form to send in your question. I’ll be answering one question a month at this time but as membership grows so will the number of column posts. Answers will be posted without identifying information. Please only submit questions that are either weighing heavy on your mind/heart. Traditionally, horary questions had to have a spiritual weight, of sorts, as in, if the question did not receive an answer, there would be an additional stress to the querent.
So, here is the question/situation: The person needed to find their social security card ASAP as it was going to hold them back from getting Unemployment if they did not find it soon.
This chart is for the moment when they had already looked everywhere they could think of and were ready to reach out to me for help. Generally, when it comes to lost item horary charts, you’ll want to do this only once you have already looked everywhere and are reaching a point of desperation.
Things to consider going in:
We have the ASC at a later degree 22° but not so late that I’m not still hopeful.
Moon is not void of course.
Saturn is not in a house where it could mean damage to the astrologer’s reputation.
So, looks like we’re good to assess this chart.
The Querent (The person asking the question):
The ASC is 22° Sagittarius and is represented by a Rx Jupiter in the 3H in Aquarius (yes, this was a while ago). The moon in Leo matches up with the querent who is at this state, feeling more hopeful about their financial situation. In addition, the moon has just left a dark house (I don’t mean connotation but rather a house that is not visible to the ASC) and entered into a house that trines the ASC so that in and of itself felt positive. I am not really looking at other aspects made prior to this as they are all outer planet/ obscure point aspects from when the moon was in Cancer so they don’t really apply especially in a situation when the querent needs the basic information fast.
I’m a bit thrown off by a Rx Jupiter as that is generally not great in a horary post but I wanted to see what else the chart said before I decided anything about whether it would be found quickly or not.
Quesited: (The thing/person we’re inquiring about):
With this, there are a few directions we could go. I had a bit of trouble initially deciding if the 2H would fit for this as the 2H is one of the go-to houses for horary lost items but it also depends on multiple factors but ultimately I was just trying to decide between the 2H and 3H which were both Saturn ruled LOL so it didn’t really matter. If you care to know though, I probably would have stuck to the 2H for this. I also would have looked to Mercury simply because they are a natural significator for paperwork type of goods and it’s wise to check out natural significators for an additional layer, though you’ll eventually have to decide on which to use (house ruler or natural significator).
So, 2H ruler was Saturn and it was also Rx which is also kind of good in that now both the Quer/Ques are Rx. Saturn was also in the same house as Jupiter so SCORE. That def told me the social security card was located close to the querent. Even though Saturn was Rx it had a LOT of dignity which, to me, pointed to the querent being able to find this relatively quickly.
Interpretation
After seeing both planets so close together, I let the querent know that the item should be within the house, and likely the same room as where they were when they messaged me. I let them know that I anticipated it being found within hours. Here are the places I suggested they look based on the position of both planets in the 3H.
In a desk or near where you store any paperwork and mail.
It is likely to be in a room where you spend most of your time.
A “room within a room” which may be a box within a space like a closet, a bathroom within the bedroom. Th main idea here being that it was somewhere within somewhere else.
West from where they were when they messaged me.
Finally, I suggested they look in places where they had already looked as the double Rx planets indicated to me that it would need a double sweep.
Follow-up
This person found the social security card within a matter of hours! As it turned out, the card was actually in a dresser that was also a vintage secretaries desk. They had already looked there but they double-checked after seeing the “west” and the “where there is paperwork and mail”. This person stores their envelopes for mailing paper items they design in the desk. After finding it, they also realized that the card was within a little nook within the desk which, to them, felt like a “room within a room.”
