Full Moon in Aries with Chamomile

A full moon over some trees and a timelapse of a street.

Quick note, I usually share these intro details in my newsletter but I will be keeping the extra aspects and ritual to members only. So feel free to jump to the next section if you read the newsletter.

As we shift further into fall and October, prepare for some major astrology and opportunities to shed some skin. This lunation is not as hot as the new moon we experienced but it does ask us to step up and prepare and to realize just how much strength we hold inside. This is the case with many of October and November's major transits as well.

The first thing I want to invite you to do, as is wise for every full moon is to reflect on where you were six months ago when the Aries new moon hit its peak. What have you initiated since then that is connected to the idea of being a pioneer or related to the topic/theme of forging your own path? Aries is a sign of taking action, of following an inner fire, of listening to the lil spark inside you asking to be seen and fed and fueled. I've created some journaling prompts to help with this reflection and am sharing them below.

Let's talk more specifically about this full moon. So this year, the Aries full moon is ruled by a fallen Mars located in the sign of Libra. Mars and the moon are both found in the final decans of their respective signs. With the moon in Aries three, we navigate the additional layer of a Venusian decan. How do we fight for what we love? How do we embody strength alongside vulnerability? The theme for this full moon is learning to be soft while forging ahead as a warrior of the night. There’s something lovely about this blending of energy that I think is worth noticing.

Aspects of this Full Moon

Now that I’ve given you a general understanding of the new moon’s placement, let’s explore some of the other important placements and aspects.

Aside from the ruler of this moon, Mars is also cozied up pretty close to the sun (within 4°) and combust while also closely opposing the moon. Given that Mars has been in a sign where it is unable to easily express itself, this full moon is picking up that frustrating energy, leading many of us to feel that ever-growing tension and weight. I promise, a lot of this energy is going to start lifting for most folks (obvi it will depend on your chart). This Mars transit has not been ease especially alongside the Mercury Rx and both of our benefics positioned in a difficult spot (Jupiter bc of Rx and Venus conjoined Ketu).

Aside from the actual Moon-Sun aspect, we have a few others which are likely to influence the overall energy of the full moon. The most notable is the Mars/Pluto square 😖. Pluto has played a fairly important role in the last month, both in regard to the square it makes to all cardinal transits, but it has specifically affected us this Libra season with the total of three squares during the Mercury rx cycle. So, when I say, "shedding skin" I mean it. More than this however, Pluto is also assisting us in making some parts of our inner world more accessible and visible for us. It is in the visibility that we’re able to find a strategy for how best to demolish and rebuild the systems that simply aren’t working in our personal lives and in the collective.

When I see Mars in an applying square to Pluto in this chart, it makes me feel like we're being given a chance to actually do something in regard to a part of our inner world that we have not yet acknowledged. This will feed into the ritual I have created for y’all. Aside from this Pluto/Mars square, we also have Chiron and Mercury applying to oppose each other within one degree just after Mercury has gone direct. This tells me that as Hermes moves forward and wraps up what has been revealed within the Libra themes, they are bringing a sweet medicine for healing.

The Ritual

I’m keeping the ritual fairly simple this time around. I decided to do this partially because the astrology is already pretty transformative and also because we have a fabulous Ancestor Journey that I think should take up the bulk of your time :)

Here are the supplies you will need:

  • A notebook for the journaling prompts

  • A cup of chamomile tea

  • A candle in a color of your choosing, I suggest white for this.

  • A pinch of dried chamomile

Dried chamomile spilling out of a white bowl on a white table with a wooden spoon.

Part One: Acknowledge

For this portion of the ritual, I’m inviting you to acknowledge some of the growth you’ve made along with what you’re ready to unravel and release.

  1. In what ways am I forging my own path?

  2. What lessons have I explored in the last six months related to being a pioneer?

  3. What unfamiliar territory have I explored in the last 6 months?

  4. What is the first doubtful thought that springs up each time I want to follow my dreams?

  5. What is one empowering belief I am embracing about myself?

Part Two: Release

I have a fire moon so I tend to light shit on fire when I want to release it and I think it’s very useful SO we’re doing that here in combination with a more calm routine. I want you to write out the doubtful thought or belief that springs up every time you get excited about a dream or possibility you have. What’s the one thing that immediately makes you doubt your journey? I want you to focus on something that you CANNOT prove to be true.

“What if I don’t know enough?” or “Maybe I’m being selfish for wanting this.” or “Maybe it’s too late to make this happen?” Phrase it as a statement instead of a question on the scrap of paper.

I want you to begin to brew yourself a cup of tea. While it steeps, I want you to take a few dried buds and and sprinkle them on the white candle. Ask chamomile to help you break this limiting belief and to help you break the block you’ve placed against yourself. After lighting your candle, I want you to take the scrap of paper and burn the doubtful belief.

Part three: Renew

After the scrap of paper has burned, I want you to start to sip your tea. Ask Chamomile to help you embody a new way of seeing your future. With each sip, I want you to state an equally powerful affirmation to counter this limiting belief.

“I am allowed to pursue my dreams even when I don’t know everything.” or “I am allowed to want this dream for myself.” or “I am allowed to pursue what brings me pleasure.”

As you sip the chamomile tea (feel free to add honey too) feel the warmth moving through your body and helping you to release one way of being and embrace a new way of being.

That’s all folks!
