New Moon in Scorpio: Revolutionize Your Relationship to Money

A crescent moon peeking above water.

Quick note, I usually share these intro details in my newsletter but I will be keeping the extra aspects and ritual to members only. So feel free to jump to the next section after the galaxy photo if you read the newsletter.

Fall and Winter are two of my favorite seasons, and I think, for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere that this has a lot to do with the astrology that we find in these seasons. This astrology pushes us to go inward, to let go, to grieve, and most importantly to give ourselves space and time to rest and heal. As we move into November and enter this Scorpio New Moon, we are being initiated into the final months of 2021 that ask us to embody a darker part of ourselves, a part that isn't afraid to consume a little bit of poison if it brings major healing in the process. This season has been big for me personally and I've found myself going offline more and focusing on imagining the bigger picture more and more (Venus moving through Sagittarius def helped with this regard).

This chart is POTENT but in ways that we haven't really witnessed thus far. We have the new moon in a same sign conjunction with Mars—who has been a potent presence for many of the previous astro events— but this time, instead of being in Libra, Mars is finally in his own home sign in a space where he is given TREMENDOUS dignity. As the ruler of the new moon, you can expect to step into that transforming power more this season. Aside from this, you may also find that you have a desire to put on that detective cap, grab that magnifying glass, and get to work unearthing, digging deep, and investigating what parts of your life need to be reassessed.

A chart of the new moon on October 6th at 4:05am PST.

One of the more interesting aspects of this lunation is the separating square from Saturn. This tells me that there is some severing or restriction that has had to happen related to the houses that hold both Aquarius and Scorpio in your chart. This new moon will remind you of why you may need to say goodbye to certain people, places, or things. For those who are incorporating the 12th and 8th house into this mix, you may have had to finally say goodbye to old parts of you or to parts of your (un)(sub)conscious belief systems. What in your life have you needed to let go? This new moon invites you, not to be kind to yourself (though that is always good) but rather to push yourself to digest and fully process what you've released so that you can step into a space where you're more able to accept what you do deserve and desire. It's not easy to swallow cold and hard truths, but Mars in Decan 1 of Scorpio tells us it's time to break down and swallow these parts of our lives.

With Saturn being in a separating square if you still feel the tension in an area of your life where you feel the need to let go of something related to Aquarius or Scorpio, but you haven't quite yet mustered up the energy and courage to do so, this new moon is a good final opportunity to do so. If you'd like some guidance in exploring what may need to be released, check out the rising sign journaling prompts I've provided below.

New Moon in Scorpio - Additional Realm Only Details

Aside from the square to Saturn, there is one other major element taking place in this chart. We have the moon making a near-exact opposition to Uranus in the new moon chart. Uranus has been influencing all fixed placements for some time now, but this new moon is bound to bring up even more within the themes of revolt, uprising, and innovation. From a traditional point of view, the planet Uranus is an outer planet and one that generally plays a role more in mundane astrology, influencing the collective, versus being a planet that we witness within ourselves or in our personal lives. This planet has played a role in the way we, as a collective, have approached money matters. When I see this in Taurus directly opposing the new moon, I also think that this placement has the opportunity to give us a chance to learn about and expand the way we connect to money matters. This is going to play into the ritual I created.

The other thing I wish to share with y’all is that this is taking place in the second decan of Scorpio, but, as I mentioned, the ruler of the moon is within the first decan. For those who are new to decans, don’t fret, I hope to make it a bit more tangible. The new moon is occurring in a space that deals directly with how we exchange and how we transmute. This new moon, in many ways, explores the topic of relationships, but not just romantic ones. This is about how we interact both with people and with things and what we need to do so that these exchanges are nourishing to both parties involved. In many ways, I believe that this prompts us to explore our relationship with magic as well. When we cast spells, or preform rituals, why are we doing them? Are we hoping to create something purely for ourselves or are we inviting in the spirits of place and things to work with us, to create beauty with us?

As I mentioned earlier, Uranus’ position, along with the two decans involved, I am going to give us a ritual that explores our relationship to money. 😬😬😬 If you’re like me, money may have been/be a tough topic. My hope with this ritual is to give you an energetic assist while you work through money matters with a trusted professional or friend.

The Ritual

Here are the supplies you will need:

  • Two bills of any denomination (one to be burned and one to be charged)

  • Container for burning shiz

  • Money or prosperity oil (Van Van, Money, Prosperity, Etc)

  • A green chime candle

  • Pyrite piece or dust (optional)

Part One: Contemplate

Prior to actually burning money, I want you to sit and meditate with the money in your hands. I encourage you to invite in your spirit guides and protectors. Once you feel ready, I want you to invite the spirit of money or fortune to sit with you and to help you understand your current relationship to money. You can invite the spirit of money or a deity associated with money. The spirit of money to me, for example, appears as Fortuna and she’s bright gold with lil leaves all around her. Ask the spirit of money to help you see what parts of your relationship are healthy and safe, and what parts need a lil tending. I encourage you to do this for at least 10 to 15 minutes but do what works for you.

Part Two: Burn

Once you have taken the time to understand your relationship to money, I want you to consider one of the fears you hold. Think about how you felt when you saw the picture of the bills burning above. What popped up immediately? In your conversation with the spirit of money, what fears did they show you?

If I’m being vulnerable, one of my fears around money is that I will one day reach a point of “zero” and not know how to pay for my needs from there. While this has happened in my life, it doesn’t mean it will happen again in the future and being hyper-vigilant does not do much to aid in my ability to heal my relationship to money.

Once you have a fear in your mind. I want you to hold it there, to look at it directly. Then take the bill you have decided to burn, and picture the details of that fear. Ask yourself how true this is currently. Ask yourself if this is a far-off or very near reality. Then ask yourself if the fear is currently helping you or if it is harming you.

I’m not going to sugarcoat the reality that we are all navigating. It’s very likely that many of your money fears are based on possible realities, but the truth is that holding these fears constantly is more than likely not contributing to your healing and instead is actively harming you.

Once you have this fear at the forefront of your mind, I want you to light the bill on fire. It’s okay to feel those fears as you move through this part of the exercise. More than anything, I want you to explore what happens in your body and heart when you do this. I want you to feel into what follows the burning, once it’s all ash. If necessary, take some time after this part of the ritual to cleanse and to shake out the energy from your body.

Part three: Amplify

Once you feel cleansed and you feel that internal shift that follows facing a fear, I want you to grab your candle, prosperity oil, your other bill, and the pyrite if you have it. I want you to find some affirmations related to security and money that you can believe in. I’ve listed a few below:

  • I am safe and secure and my needs are met.

  • I have what I need to enjoy pleasure.

  • I attract what I need and desire.

Add a tiny bit of oil to your candle, and light it. As the candle burns, take a little bit of the oil and add it to your other bill. Sit with the bill in your hands and repeat the affirmations while you rub the oil into the bill. Feel the energy of the oil and feel your relationship to money growing and healing. Once you feel you’ve done this as long as you’d like, add a pyrite stone atop your dollar bill and allow this to charge on your altar until the full moon. Let your candle burn to completion.

Part Four: Attract

Once your bill has been charged on your altar or in a sunny spot from the new moon to the full moon, take this and place it in your wallet. The ritual process is done!

Part Five: Optional Rising Sign Journaling Prompts

I suggest reading for your rising sign but you may also read for your Sun sign. These were also shared in my newsletter.
