How to decipher if you need a road opener, a block remover or an uncrossing.

One of the struggles that many folks encounter when beginning down the road of folk magic workings is when they encounter works that deal with clearing blockages. If you're fairly new to this work, it can be confusing when comparing a "road opener" vs a "block remover" vs an "uncrossing" vs a gentle cleansing. Upon first glance, these all seem very similar but they each have their own set purpose! Today, I'm going to give you the rundown on how to recognize when you may need each of these types of working and their overall goals.
Uncrossing
I'm going to begin with one of the more commonly needed workings: An uncrossing. I find that when many folks hear of uncrossing, they picture that it is utilized only when a purposeful hex has been cast, when in fact, this working encompasses a wider range of issues. Let's dive in!
To begin with, an uncrossing aims to "Uncross" the individual when they have been crossed. I know, kind of confusing, let's push this further. Being "crossed" is not just the act of having a hex placed against oneself, but it can be that. If someone chooses to perform a working against us, this is purposeful but this is also not very common in comparison to other issues we may be navigating. In addition to purposeful crossings, folks can unintentionally cross us. I do see this a bit more these days especially with how common social media is and how common it is for people to share their big wins. If it is unintentionally placed it can be linked to evil eye or mal de ojo, and often happens after sharing some very good news. Sometimes one very jealous person is all it takes for us to be crossed, especially if we are not actively putting up protective boundaries. Finally, we can actually cross ourselves unintentionally. If you consistently speak to yourself in a harmful way even when knowing you shouldn't, you can accidentally be crossing yourself. I want to clarify that I'm not referring to intrusive thoughts that you have no control over, instead I'm focusing on thoughts that are dwelled on or verbalized instead of trying to challenge them.
If you're struggling to recognize whether you need an uncrossing, know that this one can be very affecting. You may find that you are struggling to manifest or are facing blocks in MULTIPLE areas of your life, if not ALL areas of your life. You may find your energy is very low and this may come on rather suddenly without it being attributed to a physical issue. You likely just feel kind of crummy and have this come out of nowhere. You may even find yourself wondering why things just aren't working out. Sometimes this starts and stays small (like catching all red lights and being late to work every day for a week). Sometimes it builds up over the next few days, leading to things like being passed over for a promotion you know you should have gotten or losing your wallet even though your careful, or your tire is flat before getting in the car, and so on.
In terms of the size of workings, an uncrossing can be mild or a larger working. It typically depends on the nature of the issue and whether it was purposeful, or how many places this stems from. I do think these workings should be done fairly regularly especially if you are working on releasing limiting belief systems. BUT I will say that crossings also happen even if you are a confident and sure-of-yourself person.

Obstacle Removal/ Block Removal
Next, we'll discuss Obstacle/Block Removal workings. This is one of those workings that many folks may gravitate towards but one that also doesn't really need to be used too often. It's similar to a road opening work but different in very important ways which I'll touch on. The overall goal of an obstacle or block removal working is to do just that, clear a BIG ASS obstacle. Generally, this working is set to address one are of your life where there is one big energetic block standing in your way. There are many ways a block can be placed in your path. The thing that I see happen most often is that a person has either been crossed in a small way and it remains unaddressed and ends up building and building until it becomes a major obstacle. Generally, I see this happen in areas where we may feel less than confident. Since I know many members of the realm are business owners, I'll use that as an example.
Say you have a new business, and it's going ok, not outstanding but ok. Then you start feeling good, and you share some of your wins but you share it with that one cousin who clearly doesn't like you, and that cousin is then like "They think they are so cool because they have a business. It's not that hard, they should try doing what I do, now THAT is hard."
They dwell on this and get a lil envious and it causes a lil evil eye. At the same time that is happening, you start to get a little doubtful when you have a month or so that is not so great. You begin questioning if you should be doing the work you're doing. Then you keep dwelling on this, and a launch doesn't work out. And then you're like "OMG I knew it wasn't going to work out." And slowly more things start to stand in the way of you getting more clients or being seen and it feels like no matter what you do, things just aren't working out in one area of your life.
As you can gauge already from this example, this is something that builds up and tends to happen over time. This doesn't typically stem from purposeful working, but sometimes it can if it's a working that is specifically meant to block one aspect of your life. I see that happen more so with romantic relationships.
Understanding whether or not you need an obstacle removal is actually pretty easy. I wanted to discuss this before the road opener because the two can sometimes feel very similar but this one is easier to describe. There are a few key things that will happen when a person needs a block removal.
Folks will find that their spellwork is just not working out. Nothing is working and it feels energetically, as if the spells gain a little momentum then fizzle out. This is because of the energetic block.
It will literally feel like you're coming up against a wall energetically. You may feel like you have solutions for an issue but no matter what you do, things just DO NOT work out. You may try out different solutions or you may THINK of multiple solutions but be unable to make any of them happen.
Sometimes, similar to a road opener, it may feel as though things are gaining momentum, but then suddenly something stops it from working out. For example, you get hired at a great job, then you get a call and they say they actually ran out of their budget and won't be hiring for another few months after all or something like that.
Typically, a block only affects one or two areas of your life. If it is two areas of your life they will be related in some way. Business and money for example versus Romance and Money.
This working is typically a simple working but requires a good deal of energy and experience. It is not easy to do this on your own if you are new to magic. If you feel like you need an obstacle removal and you cannot afford to work with a professional practitioner, it will require more time and it is likely best to do multiple uncrossings, powerful cleansing, and then follow up with road openers.

Road Opener
Road openers are one of my favorite workings because of how uplifting they are and how powerful they can be when folks don't actively have other major things going on. Road openers do literally just that, open the road in front of you. They are often used for financial-related issues but can also be used for things like romance and moving. It's a fairly simple working that most folks can do regardless of experience. The goal of a road opener is to make it easier to get access to the things that you need. It clears the path in front of you so you can be more aligned with what you are trying to manifest or call to you. It's a working that can also be hella beneficial if folks are consistently cleansing and uncrossing. Typically, there is no real issue that leads to needing a road opener, unlike the previously mentioned workings. These workings help to clear small obstacles and make it easier to find what you need.
Knowing whether you need a road opener is a little bit trickier than other workings but after reading about the other ones, I'm hoping you'll be able to see the differences.
You may need a road opener if you are consistently doing cleansing work and do not actively require any other major working.
You may need this working if you are trying to manifest something in your life and you're unsure of the exact path to take (like gaining clients or finding freelance contracts).
You have tried to do other types of workings (like money-boosting work) but still don't know what mundane action to take.
It feels like there are minor blocks but nothing major. For example, you might be looking for a new place, and the first two places that caught your eyes were just rented out once you showed up (showing you were almost on the right track but a lil off by time).
Road Opening workings are fairly simple to preform and do not require much effort in comparison to say, a block removal. I will say that they should generally be preformed after doing a deeper cleanse and verifying that no other working needs to be done. The effort required can be minimal or a bit more intensive. Sometimes I'll suggest a simple road opening bath only for one day, and other times I'll suggest a bath for 9 days, a spell, a floor wash, all started after a deep 3-day cleanse, the amount of work involved will depend on how long it has been since the last road opener and based on how quickly we want to see results.

General Cleanse
I decided to cover the general cleanse at the very end since it's a more simple task that should be done on a very frequent basis. This can be difficult to gauge but you will grow better at it over time and with practice. A gentle cleanse, in general, can be anything from an energy field cleanse with selenite to a cleansing bath. The goal of a general cleansing ritual is to cleanse your space and energy body of any picked-up energy that you should no longer be carrying. You will find that the more you practice it, the better you are at gauging what you need and when you need it. If you are a service provider, I believe you should be cleansing on a daily basis if not after every client you work with. If you are a public business owner, you should cleanse more often. If you are a member of the realm and have not yet checked out the cleansing tools Notion template, that is a great list to look to for regular cleansing.
You can usually gauge that you need a general cleanse when you begin to feel a bit run down, or you find that you physically feel heavier than usual (not in physical weight but in how you hold your weight). You may also feel a general yuck, or have ideas come up that feel a bit more reactive or not fully "you," such as very jealous thoughts when you're normally not very jealous or bitter etc. I suggest doing major cleanses on space and body anywhere from 1x a week to 1x a quarter. The more intense the working, the more it will last. My typical cleansing schedule is as follows: A quarterly BIG cleanse on the walls, windows, and doors. A deep cleanse once a month by bath and smoke on the home. A weekly energy body cleanse with Florida water and/or smoke. A daily quick cleanse with spray or selenite. Sometimes I will do a salt scrub in the shower once a week too. This is why I generally suggest that it's good to mix up your cleansing tools and frequency as it's good to have both larger and smaller methods of cleansing. This is especially true right now while many of us are psychically drained.
