Working with Planetary Days
Using planetary days and correspondences can help you to imbue more celestial magic into your mundane activities.
Why should I consider the planets when planning my day-to-day tasks?
Working with the planetary correspondences in your mundane life can help boost your magical workings, but more than that, the energies of the planets can help you move through your "mundane" activities in a way that causes less stress, creates more connection, builds routine, and enables you to flow with the astrological energies and influences.
While this post is on my Instagram, I thought it would be better to go into this more detail via this blog. So, let's look at the main reasons why it might be useful to incorporate the energies of the planets that are associated with each day of the week.
Routine
During times of stress, and especially if that stress is entirely out of our control, creating a routine can be very helpful. Some of us (I'm looking at my fellow Capricorns or Virgos) thrive on routine in general, but others stray away from them because they can feel confining. This issue, I think, stems from the fact that as a capitalistic society, we have consistently values one idea of “routines” when we should be focusing on cycles and energetic routine. Working with the planetary days can help those who are routine-averse find a natural rhthym to connect to. Each day of the week has a planet associated with it, and you can even take it further and consider the planet that rules not just Sunrise to sunset, but sunset to sunrise.
When I decided to work with the planetary spirits, I know that the easiest way to begin understanding their energies was to work with planetary days. This is why I began to research the energies of each day and the planetary correspondences. I wanted to connect those magical powers to my mundane tasks. It was in doing this more and more, that I realized much of what I considered “mundane” was magical in its own way and intrinsically connected to magic and my spirituality. When we organize these tasks with guidance from the planetary spirits, we can use the energy that is already flowing through and around us to get these tasks complete. Likewise, we can create a routine of days that allow for some rest, and days that push us to get more done.
Given that many of us are so isolated because of COVID-19, creating a routine while we are mostly at home (for those who have the privilege of remaining at home or the need to do so) will be essential to not feeling like we're losing track of time, our minds, and spirit. It will help ground us in a positive way.
Connection
It can be difficult to feel connected to our spiritual and magical lives if we are constantly needing to focus on aspects in our lives that don't involve ritual. By incorporating the planetary days, we form an even deeper connection to our spiritual selves by consciously deciding that there does not need to be a distinction between the magical aspects of our day and the mundane. This conscious choice creates a deeper connection to the energies that move through and around us. For example, the first post that will follow this one details working with the energy of the Sun on Sundays.
I used to frequently struggle by placing expectations on myself each Sunday, hoping to accomplish a huge to-do list, major housework, and complete rituals. At the end of the day, I often wound up feeling both physically and mentally exhausted and having only gotten one or two things done for the day. Most Sundays, I wanted to lay in bed and let the sun stream in and hit my skin.
Once I realized that the Sun was all about creativity, ease, purification, and being seen. From there, I allowed Sundays to be more about what I WANTED to do and less about what I NEEDED to do. I allowed myself to take each Sunday week by week giving myself the freedom to move with ease. From there, my whole energy shifted and I found myself feeling more rested come Monday.
Flow
There is energy all around us. And each day brings a slight variation on the energy. Aside from the moon, and the major planets, the correspondence of the day has a big impact on your energy. When we work with these natural rhythms we create flow.
Have you ever had a day where it just feels like everything you are trying to finish is getting held up by something? Maybe you were doing your best to balance your checkbook, but your mind wandered endlessly, and doing it felt like a drag. It could be because you were working on a day that asked you to have a different frame of mind.
Now, speaking more about ritual and spell casting, working with the energies of the days of the week, in addition to the moon and the hours, can give your magic that extra oomph it needs to get the spell working ASAP. It's not that your self-love spell won’t work if cast on Saturday, for example, but if done on Friday, you're using the magic of the day to add to a spell WITH the power that already flows around you. Going with the flow adds momentum to your work. This means you rely less on your inner abilities and instead team up with the surrounding energies to push the intention and make it louder.
Finally, keep in mind
This might not work for everyone, but given that I am The CELESTIAL bruja, I tend to work my magic and my life around celestial energies. Our next post will be about working with the Sun's energy to create a joyful and bright Sunday. Subscribe/Follow to get notified of when this post goes live.
