Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio

The Scorpio Lunar Eclipse
Oooh boy, this one has been hitting hard. It’s already Friday and I’m finding myself drained and exhausted. It’s unbelievable how much these are hitting this year, and I’m not even in a lunar profection year! How has it been going for y’all? Are you feeling the slow shedding, the unleasihing, the wolfing-out that seems to be brought up by this year’s first lunar eclipse?
There’s a lot going on in this chart and I want to do my best to share some guidance on how to accept it, and how to move with and through it. Let’s dive right into this chart exploration.
The first thing I want to focus on is the general energy of an eclipse taking place in the sign of Scorpio and Taurus. With the moon being in its fall in Scorpio, we know the moon is unable to operate to the best of its abilities. This may manifest for many of us, as an experience of our emotions overwhelming us and intertwining with our bodies. Instead of feeling as though we can be vulnerable and talk directly about what we’re feeling internally, we may hold it in and experience our emotions more with our bodies. We may feel tension in our stomachs, a tightness and an unwillingness to release in our hips or pelvic area, or even a tightness in our chest and shoulders (While this may manifest in the body it is still important to seek out physical and/or medical care if you’re experiencing something out of the norm or scary, especially related to chest-tightness). When I say tightness, I am speaking more about constricted muscles and not at all about our breathing or organs. With Scorpio being so closely related to release, detox, and shedding, I want to embrace this in the ritual for members of the realm, but I’ll also share some guidance for newsletter subscribers. Generally, anything you can do to help support release, can be very beneficial. This may look like getting some physical movement that allows you to sweat, heading into a sauna, leaning on tools like gua sha, cupping, massage, etc. I’ll be sharing a foot soaking bath recipe below as well.
Another thing we will want to focus on is Mars’ placement as the ruler of this eclipse. Sometimes, we might see Mars in Pisces as lacking dignity or feeling a bit uncomfortable, but in this spot, Mars actually gains a good deal of dignity from being within its own term. In this position, Mars is able to gain access to some of its own inner resources. While it may be in an unfamiliar space, it’s given its powerful tools to move through this new space. Utilizing your innate Mars energy may help you move through this eclipse. How do you direct your drive? What healthy tools do you have to channel anger that rises up related to deep wounds you haven’t wanted to navigate? What movement is your body craving to release all it wants to release?

Aside from what I mentioned above, there are a few other key and glaring aspects in this chart that I HAVE to share with y’all. To begin with, we have the moon making an applying square only 1° away to Saturn. So shortly after this eclipse hits, we’ll feel the effects of the square going exact. What I didn’t mention about Mars above, either, is that this moon is also just barely separating from a trine to Mars. So in this chart we definitely see the presence of both malefics on the moon. While one is a trine, an aspect many folks generally want to label as “positive” in this case, a trine from a malefic isn’t going to make all that much more pleasurable or beneficial, it is still the moon receiving the rays of both Saturn and Mars.
With Venus and Jupiter both being in the sign of Aries, we also don’t have the sweetness of either benefic to look to in this lunation. This is one that is bound to bring up deep pains and discomforts ready to be processed and moved through. What I do love about Venus and Jupiter being together, however, is that once the moon escapes Scorpio and moves instead into Sagittarius, it will gain a trine from both planets as it moves through that sign. This tells me, that while the eclipse itself is pushing us towards uncomfortable and necessary growth, on the other side of this, is a sweetness and a sense of new wisdom to be gained. Hopefully, once the exhaustion of the eclipse wears off, you can laugh about any over-the-top reactions you experienced.
Offering for this eclipse
Instead of a tarot spread, I have a few journaling prompts, a foot bath for the night of the eclipse and a head wash for the next day.
Two light skinned feet in a tub of water with flowers.
1️⃣ — Journaling Prompts
In what area of your life have you noticed yourself “erupting” recently, and what wisdom was there to be gained in that reaction?
Where in my body am I holding the most tension this eclipse? What is this tension asking of me?
What is asking to be released emotionally? Mentally? Physically?
2️⃣ Foot Soak
With Mars in Pisces and us moving through an eclipse, I wanted to offer a foot soak for y’all to help further process the releasing aspect. Be sure to double-check that you can use the following ingredients if you have held conditions. I know epsom salt/foot soaks aren’t great for some folks, like those who have diabetes. Avoid if you have wounds or sores on your feet. Also, aim for as warm as you can tolerate without harming yourself.
SUPPLIES
A bucket or tub for foot soaking. You can also use your bathtub if you have one.
A 1/2 cup of Epsom salt
A 1/4-1/2 cup of baking soda
1 lemon sliced
A few tablespoons of nettle (optional)
A few tablespoons of rosemary
To prepare the herb part, you’ll want to steep the herbs in a mug as you would tea. While that steeps, prepare the hot water in the tub with the salt and baking soda, add the sliced lemon. Once your herb mixture is steeped, add that to the water. Soak your feet for 20 minutes or more.
3️⃣ Head Rinse Post-Eclipse
This head rinse is both to help clear excess energy from your headspace, and to add in some beneficial energy after all of the releases you moved through. You can use any of the following ingredients below.
Grab about 32 oz of water and set to simmer on the stove. Add any of the following to low-heat about 1-2 tablespoons of each. You will want to let this cool before use.
Chrysanthemum flowers
Baby’s Breath
Lavender
Rosehips
1/4 cup of milk of your choice, I recommend almond or goat’s.
You will want to take a normal shower, than do this head rinse after. If you need to, you can rinse after pouring this over your head. Either way, when you pour this, make sure you use your fingers to scrub it into your scalp. If you can air dry, perfect, if not, no worries. You can wash off after 24 hours.
