Horary Column: “Should I grow/shift my position with this company within the next 6 months?”

Chart cast at 11/1/21 10:37am for PDT.

** Please keep in mind, this is not traditionally exactly how a horary service would work. Instead, I am hoping y’all can learn a little bit about astrology through these posts AND have access to a free service :)**

Alright, so we have our second horary column up today! I love receiving the questions y’all are sending in. Feel free to send one each month for consideration. Click through to the contact form to send in your question. I’ll be answering one question a month at this time but as membership grows so will the amount of column posts. Answers will be posted without identifying information.

So, here is the question/situation: The person who sent this question has a small business that is service-based. They also navigate chronic illness/disability(ies). The person is curious about growing within the current day job they hold. They mentioned that they are comfortable with the environment they are currently in and that they fear if they change positions they may end up over-working themselves or their business may suffer. The person basically wanted to know if changing positions would be harmful or beneficial.

The chart is for the moment that I received confirmation of the phrasing for the question. Below is my interpretation and how I came to this information. Keep in mind, Horary is a traditional branch of astrology that has a variety of “rules” that need to be considered to come to an interpretation. An astrologer forms an interpretation by assessing the lords of specific houses, considering the surrounding information, considering the rules and how “likely” something is.

Things to consider going in:

First off, we checked the ASC degree to see if it was in a time where we could truly gauge an answer. Seeing the ASC at 22° in Sagittarius told me that we were nearing a later point within the sign and that the answer may already be decided. Since the ASC and the Lord represent the querent, this told me the person asking may already have an inkling of what they “should” do or already feel aligned with an answer. I continued checking for things that would indicate it was okay to proceed. I saw the question was asked during the Moon’s day and during Mars’ hour. The Moon’s day links up to the idea of caring for the body. There was no other link between the ASC and the day/hour, however. I did see that Venus was right on the ASC and that it ruled the 6th house of illness and it ruled the MC within the chart, so that did indicate that I had a chart that was associated to the themes being asked. After confirming that Saturn was not in a space where it could indicate a mistake or damaged reputation, I also checked for a void of course moon as that almost immediately answers our question. Here’s the interesting thing about this moon. It’s technically void of course if you consider it void of course the minute it moves away from the exact aspect. I’m very curious about this so I’m going to move ahead anyway.

The Querent (The person asking the question):

The Querant is represented by Jupiter in Aquarius at 22° where its within its own term and has some dignity. Generally, the moon is a co-significator for the Querent and will also tell us about anything that has recently passed that may influence the outcome. It also points to the Querent’s hearts and what is most on their mind. The moon sometimes also indicates what will come to pass. The moon is located in Virgo at 26° in the 10th house. In this question, Venus also serves as a co-significator as it is located in the first house and on the ASC. Here, Venus does not have much dignity but is also not exiled or afflicted by a malefic.

The moon last made an exact (or is currently making if you consider the degree and not the minute) square to Venus in Sagittarius in the 1st house. Venus rules over the 6H as I mentioned earlier and over the 11H which holds the MC. This tells me the querent is highly considering their body and its needs (which was already mentioned). More than this, they are feeling fairly good with the current routine they have, they feel secure and stable and are more concerned with continuing this stability instead of rocking the boat. Ruling the Midheaven, the querent feels a push to grow towards their long term vision and to focus on that. The square specifically shows me that the querent is facing tension between helping others, growing their career, and being a quality employee; and in pursuing their long-term vision and following what brings them pleasure and a sense of expansion.

Quesited: (The thing/person we’re inquiring about):

Since we’re answering a question about a job and potential growth/promotion/switch within that job, I look to the 10H and the Lord of the 10th. The tenth house is Virgo so the lord is Mercury which is at 23° Libra. While I don’t know/have a lot of details about the exact position the person is moving towards/currently holds, I do know that the job is within health so Virgo as the sign of the 10H makes sense. Mercury in Libra is in its own term and has some dignity.

Interpretation

So the first thing I’m going to check is for contact between the significators or co-significators. I’m going to assess the contacts made between the planets.

  1. Mercury (sig of the employer) is SEPARATING from a trine to Jupiter (sig of the querent). Typically, a trine brings ease but we really want the aspect to be applying, not separating. With both planets having equal dignity within their own terms. What I like is that this tells me the querent is really prioritizing what they want and need in this question. The employer, however, also seems to be doing this. With Mercury separating from Jupiter and being the faster-moving planet, I feel like the employer is moving away from considering the querent as someone who may want to grow with the company. They may think well of the querent but they may be more focused on finding someone else at the moment. Mercury is also making an applying aspect to Pluto. Some horary astrologers only use traditional planets, but when I see an outer planet in this kind of context, I take note. Here, I see Mercury applying to make a square to Pluto in the second house in 1° and I wonder if there is some shift happening within the company. Maybe some budget cuts or some shifts with their employment process. Perhaps there will be a shift of power.

  2. I checked for other positive aspects between any of the 10H co-significators and the 1H co-significators and all point to tension. While it does appear that Mercury and Venus will make contact, it does not happen before a switch of signs, which means things would need to shift with the querent AND the employer, for this to easily work out.

With all of that being said, to summarize, here is my response:

I think there are some changes that will happen both for the querent and for the employer that will make the querent tense with the shift. I think that while the employer and the querent are on equal footing, the querent is focused on a long-term goal and on themselves. At this point, I don’t think a shift within the next 6 months will ultimately satisfy them though things may shift after that point.
