Full Moon in Aquarius: A Ritual For Divine Insight
A full moon in a reddish sky over tree branches.
This is the second full moon in the sign of Aquarius which will work to highlight the neergy of the third decan of Aquarius. While both full moons embody and highlight the axis of Leo and Aquarius, the degree placement of both highlights subtle differences in Aquarius energy.
To give you a quick recap, the axis of Aquarius and Leo is that of individuality. Leo is concerned with being an individual, being seen, outside of the collective, while Aquarius wants to be recognized for their contributions to the collective. The modality of both signs is fixed, and both are positive in polarity. The key difference is that of elements and rulership. Leo is a fire sign ruled by the Sun whereas Aquarius is an air sign ruled by Saturn (traditionally). This tells us how the signs operate differently. Leo learns its lessons more through vitality, shining bright, and creativity and inspiration. Aquarius explores these lessons through wisdom, through cool detachment and observation. While both Leo and Aquarius are more exerting, as positive signs, their rulership changes their approach. Aquarius being ruled by Saturn means that it’s actions and responses are through the lens of gaining wisdom and taking a calculated approach, while Leo is ruled by the Sun and truly wants to act in a way that is inspired and quick to shine on others. Now that I’ve covered this, let’s move on to the Full Moon.

Chart Breakdown
I will be sharing the chart breakdown in my newsletter as well so if you see it here first, or see it there first, just know the actual breakdown is the same in both spaces. Here, in the Celestial Realm, I’ll be sharing a ritual that I will not be sharing with my newsletter subscribers. I am also teaching a Full Moon Workshop with Mystic Mysteries on August 21st at 4pm PST. You can sign up to join the live workshop. I will be sharing a different ritual with those who join, and everyone there will also have access to information on how the moon may affect you specifically based on your Rising Sign. Read on for the chart details!
The moon occurs at 29° Aquarius which is a critical degree. Anytime we have a planet preparing to move out of a space and making an exact aspect at 29° we are dealing with the planet as it prepares to release the final energies of that sign. When we pair this with the fact that the moon is also in the 3rd decan of Aquarius, which is ruled by the moon, we know that there is BIG energy for this full moon. Just looking at this, I can tell you that this is a time when folks are bound to be more vocal, wanting to communicate more (for both good and bad reasons) and may have folks feeling a bit more stimulated and social.
From there, I can see that Jupiter is also conjoined the Moon and is retrograde still. This is going to add an energy of amplification to your emotions while also directing it all to be inwardly expansive. You’re likely to have BIG feelings today especially as it relates to isolation, solitude, feeling out of place, or as if you’re not quite “making it” in the ways you hope you would be. All of this takes place opposite the Sun as does every full moon which will only cause more of a push-pull desire to both share these emotions or to feel like you don’t have the proper space to share what you’re feeling. Those who have a good deal of personal placements in the latter end of Aquarius and those going through their Saturn return are likely to feel this energy more heavily and may benefit from having a mutual vent session of sorts with their closest friends.
Aside from the fact that this moon is taking place at 29° and is conjoined by Jupiter, there aren’t any other aspects we need to be concerned with, thankfully. For those in the PST area, this is happening on the axis of the 1st and the 7th so will especially highlight the relationship between self and the other, so keep that in mind.
While I don’t have more aspects to talk about, that Jupiter energy alongside the moon will really add a bit of strength to this moon so I encourage you to lean into your divine and spiritual practices as a tool for processing anything that realy stirs up some uncomfy emotions. Aside from that, you can also use the ritual below to help out!

The Ritual
Here are the supplies you will need:
Two white candles
An incense stick or cone (scents I suggest: Frankincense, Egyptian Jasmin, and Moon)
A notepad
Items that help you connect to your ancestors or spirit team
A glass of water
Optional: White cloth, moon cakes, a plate of food as an offering, white clothing, soft music, an oil like the Ancestral Activation oil to dress the candles.
The first thing you’re going to do is take the time to prepare your heart, mind, and body for this ritual. We will be preforming a smoke scrying exercise so I like to suggest folks give themselves ample time to sit in this space. Some folks like to put on ritual attire or get dressed up as if they are going to see their elders, do what feels best for you but be intentional about it. Aside from this, I suggest making sure you’re neither overly full nor entering the space with an empty stomach. Oftentimes after highly meditative work such as this you may find that you emerge feeling rather hungry so it helps to be nourished prior to entering. When you’re ready for the scrying ritual, gather your supplies and find an area where you won’t be disturbed.
On the ritual space, set your glass of water and the items that help you connect to your ancestors on the table. Grab your incense and something to hold it and set it atop the ritual space or the white cloth. If you choose to dress your candles, you can do so now, otherwise, you will light your two candles and place them on either side of the incense. Have your notepad near you. At this time, you can choose to greet your ancestors and/or spirit team and invite them into your space. I suggest forming a protection boundary first and foremost, however. You can do this by calling on your protective spirits or by doing a cloak visualization. Then you can invite in your spirits who are well and here to guide you in being your best self. When you begin to feel their presence you can light the incense.
I want you to make sure the room is dimly lit so that the smoke isn’t overpowered by bright light. Simply sit and watch as the incense starts to release smoke and curls and bends. Ask your spirit for messages you seek. Ask them for signs you can seek out to know they are near. Ask for guidance as you make big choices. Watch the smoke and when you begin to notice shapes, numbers, letters, anything— write it down. Don’t overthink it and don’t try to process what you are seeing, just record during this time. Stopping to think will pull you out of the meditative state. Do this for as long as you’d like, I suggest at least 30 minutes for full effect.
Allow yourself to process what you noticed and saw. Don’t feel as though you have to understand the images that same night. Instead, keep the list of images with you for the next two weeks. If something comes through about those images, make note of it.
